Overview
This web-site is dedicated to looking back at the year 2000 computer bug. The web site is divided up into 6 sections, each addressing a different aspect of the Y2K bug.
1) What Caused the Y2K Bug? This section gives a technical look at how the Y2K bug came about, and why it is so widespread.
2) What Problems Did the Y2K Bug Present? Here we examine the possible problems that the millennium bug could have, and would have caused if preventative measures weren't taken.
3) Did the Y2K Bug Actually Cause Any Problems? Although Year 2000 came and went without any major problems, there were many minor problems that occurred all around the world. Many problems didn't surface until days, even weeks after the new millennium arrived. This section takes a look at the problems which did occur, the effects of the problems, and how the problems were fixed.
4) Were the Efforts Made to Fix the Problem Worth It? The economic implications of the Y2K bug were tremendous. Here we take a look at the raw numbers, and try to determine whether all the spending was necessary or whether money was wasted on what wasn't going to be a big problem anyway.
5) Links This section provides links to the Y2K web-pages for many large technological firms, as well as links to other sites containing information on the Y2K bug.
