Date: Sun, 15 Jul 2001 21:00:16 -0400 From: Daniel Eisenbud Subject: Hanover, NH Dear Friends, Thanks to all of you who expressed concerns about my health! As you can tell from the subject line, I've recovered enough to hike 150 miles. Whether it was Lyme, strep, or a random virus, it's good to be all better and hiking again. I just did a 25 mile day into town and have yet to find a place to stay, so I'll keep this brief and write at more length from farther north in New Hampshire. The summary: Vermont was beautiful, even though it rained at least briefly every day except today. I saw a bear yesterday, and lots of moose droppings but no actual moose yet. At this point I have 440 miles to go, and about 1730 done -- getting to Mt. Katahdin is beginning to seem pretty doable! I still have some of the hardest mountains ahead of me, though. I expect to finish around the 15th, but possibly a few days earlier if I make good time. Then I'll have a mad dash to North Carolina (by car, fortunately), but I'm trying not to worry about that yet.o Love, Dan -- Daniel E. Eisenbud eisenbud@cs.swarthmore.edu
