I'm in the Boston area for about 24 hours to say hi to folks - sorry to those of you I didn't get to see. In terms of my hike, I left off at Great Barrington, MA, and am going to head back out there today. It's really nice to be back in New England: I'm starting to get to what almost feel like real mountains again. Mt. Greylock, in a few days, will be the biggest thing I've been over since the Shenandoahs or possibly even before, though I have to wait for Mt. Moosilauke in New Hampshire to get my first taste of being above treeline on this trip. I've come more than 1500 miles, and have about 650 left to go: still lots, but starting to sound pretty manageable at this point. -Dan -- Daniel E. Eisenbud eisenbud@cs.swarthmore.edu
