This will be a really quick email because I'm trying not to tie up the phone line here too long. My leg is weird -- not my knee, but above my knee has been numb. Probably a pinched nerve, and I've been assured by various hikers who have had the same thing that it will get better eventually. I'm seeing a doctor nonetheless on Monday after resting it for the weekend (it's starting to tingle occasionally, which is a good sign!) and will hopefully go on hiking after taht. There have been lots of neat people and Easter festivities at the hiker hostel and campground here, meanwhile, and I've had some great authentic Cuban food to boot. Special thanks go to my new friends Murphy and Deadman (thanks guys!) who have been incredibly nice, and helpful beyond belief (they're former thru-hikers -- if I manage to help future years of hikers a tenth as much as they're helping people here, I'll be doing well!) So all is well here. The leaves are just coming out, and I'm happy it's spring (despite the rumors of snow coming in the mountains this week. Love, Dan(iel) -- Daniel E.
