CS35 Policies and Regulations

Homework:

Written homework assignments will be due at the beginning of a period. Programs will be due by midnight on the due date. All homework will be docked 5% for each day late. You may develop your programs on any system. What you email to me must work on the CS lab system. You will email me (cfk@cs.swarthmore.edu) a tarball (to be explained) of a directory that contains all that I need to compile and run your program on the CS dept system. Work handed in under your name will be assumed to be your work alone unless you list other sources. All homework assignments (except the end of term projects) should be done primarily by individuals. You may discuss assignments with others or seek their help. If you do discuss an assignment with another person, a prominent sentence in your write-up or comment in your code should indicate this fact. Even for simple programs, it is extremely unlikely that programmers will come up with solutions that are exactly the same. If you are having difficulty with an assignment, the instructor will be happy to help you. You do not have to cite help from the instructor, or text. If you get help from any other source, you should acknowledge it in a comment. Any violations of the policy of full-disclosure of sources will be considered academic dishonesty.

Do not type or mouse around while I am lecturing.

Do not read email or surf the Web during class.

Many students have told me that they find it distracting to have other students typing or mousing around when I am lecturing. I find it distracting also. If I find you doing it I will ask you to leave. It will also make me mad at you which is not good for you. So just listen or snooze quietly when I lecture.
