CS 33: Lab #02

CS 33: Computer Organization

LAB 02: Basic Circuits

"Officially" due 11:59pm Thursday, Sept 9 but you can hand in on paper at beginning of Friday's class.

  1. Play around with the chipmunk digital logic tool on the CS computer system. Although it is possible to run chipmunk from other locations, it is very dependent on your location, machine, and software on your machine. For CS33 purposes, you should be in one of the CS student labs SciCtr 240 or 238 to run chipmunk. You start this by typing diglog at the command prompt on one of the CS machines. Documentation is available at: http://www.cs.swarthmore.edu/~cfk/log/ http://www.cs.swarthmore.edu/~cfk/log/ . Try reading: Getting started, Using the program, Circuit editing, Basics of digital simulation, and A tour of the digital gates.
  2. This lab can be done in longhand and circuit diagrams on paper. Please hand in at beginning of class on Friday Sep 10 or slip under my door before then. Make sure your name (and partners name if you have a partner) is on each sheet.

I encourage you to use diglog to test out ideas.

    From our text, hand in exercises 2.56, 3.9, 3.12, 3.16, 3.22, 3.24, 3.25.
