Final version of your second 5-7 page paper due by seminar time, Sun, 23 Nov.

Hand in a printed copy of your final version, along with WA's comments, and your draft on Wednesday, 23 November.

    Read the following in preparation for our 23 Nov. session.

  1. Read Smashing The Stack For Fun And Profit by Aleph One, a member of the hacker community.
  2. Read Reflections on Trusting Trust by Ken Thompson, one of the inventors of the Unix Operating System. You need to be on the Swarthmore nework for this.
  3. Read S pp 882-949.
  4. Pay particular attention to S pp. 894, 897, 901-902, 919.
