6. Read How Internet Infrastructure Works
7. Read What is a packet?
8. Read Cisco Security Advisories and Notices. Look at a couple of the advisories. Cisco routers are the most common on the internet. That makes them a serious security concern.
9. Skim The DNS Vulnerability from Schneier on Security
