About Us.

Swarthmore Women In Computer Science (SWiCS) was informally created in the fall of 2011, and chartered in the spring of 2013. Women have been, and continue to be, underrepresented in the field of Computer Science. Our purpose is to create a supportive community for women in Computer Science as one way to change this trend. Our mission is divided into three key parts:

Community.

Provide a safe, welcoming community to all female-identifying individuals interested in or pursuing Computer Science.

Academics.

Provide a space for learning, asking questions and getting academic encouragement.

Career.

Provide professional tools and opportunities to succeed in CS beyond Swarthmore.
