women in cs
Swarthmore Women In Computer Science (SWICS) is an informal group of women students and faculty in Computer Science. Women have been, and continue to be, underrepresented in the field of Computer Science. Our purpose is to create a supportive community for women in Computer Science as one way to change this trend. Our activities include:
- Bimonthly Women in CS and Math lunches
- Mentoring program for female students in computer science courses
- Sending representatives to conferences
- Inviting guest speakers
- Collaborating with other departments in the Natural Sciences to address related issues
We have a mailing list to which we post information about upcoming events and
notices related to women in computing. If you are a female CS student (major,
minor, taking a CS class, or just interested in CS) and would like to be added
to our mailing list, please send mail to
requesting to be added to the women in CS mailing list (note: if you are a CS
major or minor, or currently taking a CS class, you are likely already on the
mailing list).
